Bone Marrow Drive for Joyce Mack, New York

New York, NY - Born and raised on the island of Jamaica, Joyce Mack currently resides in Harlem, New York and is the proud mother of 7 grown children and 12 adoring grandchildren. Last year, her life was disrupted, when she received the devastating news that she was diagnosed with Leukemia, and relapsed earlier this year. Her best chance of survival is a bone marrow transplant, but she must first find a match. After undergoing compatibility testing with her children, and still unable to find a match, her last resort is finding an unrelated donor match to make this transplant possible. Let's help Joyce defeat these odds, by helping her find a compatible donor! Patients are most likely to match someone who shares their ethnic background. Latin Night Dance

  The Robert H. Goddard High School community came together on May 24th for their first Latin Night Dance. Teacher, Mr. Saavedra organized the event not only to promote Latin culture but to come together as a unified community to help raise funds for the Icla Da Silva Foundation.   With a diverse student body, the Robert H. Goddard High School accomplished just that and was able to raise $861 to benefit the Foundation.   We would like to thank the Robert H. Goddard Students and Faculty for hosting this event. W. Flames and Icla da Silva host Bone Marrow Awareness Day!

New Rochelle, NY - Westchester Flames F.C. will be home at City Park Stadium on Saturday June 1 to play the Ocean City Nor'easters. Game time is 7:30 PM. With two losses and a draw to start the 2013 USL PDL season, the Flames are desparate for some success. "We are disappointed with our start to the season, and we need to get a result on Saturday night" stated Flames Coach Gus Skoufis.   The Ocean City Nor'easters are coached by Tim Oswald and are coming off a narrow 2-1 loss on Tuesday to the Philadelphia Union in the U.S. Open Cup. Ocean City received recognition from throughout the soccer world for their terrific performance against an MLS club. A Bone Marrow Drive for Lara  Berkmen

“This is my personal journey of surviving a life threatening illness. Millions of children around the world suffer from leukemia. I am not alone in this fight.” Lara Berkmen, is a 13 year old girl who lives in Fairfield, CT and was diagnosed with an aggressive form of AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia), in September, 2012. After 4 rounds of chemotherapy, doctors decided that she needs a bone marrow transplant in order to get rid of the leukemic cells in her body. She loves reading, writing, swimming, playing instruments, and is being recognized for her efforts and natural talents.  Family, friends and our community are working together to help Lara and other patients in need. Together with The Icla da Silva Foundation, they have created a bone marrow drive event to reach out to the friends and community, to educate them about Bone Marrow Donation. Bone marrow drive this weekend for Manatee County elementary teacher

SARASOTA, Fla. - Nancy Newby, a McNeal elementary school teacher in Manatee County needs help finding a bone marrow match. Newby is battling Multiple Myeloma, a form of blood cancer and needs a bone marrow transplant, but no one in her family is a match. With help from the Icla da Silva Foundation, McNeal hopes to find her match. A bone marrow drive will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Saint Jude Catholic Church, 3930 17th St., Sarasota.
