A Fundação Icla da Silva, parceira do Hemoal nesse trabalho, foi criada em 1992, nos Estados Unidos. A entidade leva o nome de um alagoana que morreu aos 13 anos, vítima de leucemia, após muito esforço de seus familiares e amigos que organizaram campanhas para que ela pudesse fazer um transplante de medula óssea, única forma de salvá-la.

Remington College of Nursing, in conjunction with the Central Florida office of The Icla da Silva Foundation, sponsored a bone marrow drive at the College’s Lake Mary Campus on September 14, 2010.

The drive resulted in 35 donors added to the National bone marrow donor Registry.
