The Brazilian International Press Award started in 1997 with the mission of recognizes the personalities, institutions and initiatives to promote culture and the positive image from Brazil internationally. Nowadays it recognizes some artistic activities, cultural, philanthropy, social action, promotion of the language and sports. The selection process involves suggestions made directly from the public, from the Board and some popular votes.

The Icla da Silva Foundation’s Executive Vice President attended the awards ceremony in Fort Lauderdale, FL to receive the 2008 Brazilian International Press Award for the Grand Prix prize for best press on TV. This is our 2nd year the Foundation received this prestigious Award.  In 2005, the Foundation received the prize for best Philanthropy.

The educational television commercial created by the foundation accomplished its objectives of creating awareness about the need of diverse donors in the National Marrow Registry.  The one minute commercial shows the story of a little boy in need of marrow transplant and a young woman registering as a marrow donor and becoming his match.  The commercial ask viewers to join the foundation becoming a marrow donor, a volunteer and organize a marrow registration drive.
