Be the Match Marrowthon: Largest Campaign of the Year Aims to Bring 46,000 new people to the Be the Match Registry

Thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases depend on the Be the Match RegistrySM (the new name for the National Marrow Donor Registry) for a life-saving match. As part of the Be the Match Marrowthon, the organization’s largest campaign of the year, The Icla da Silva Foundation is hosting dozens of donor drives in New York, New Jersey, Georgia, Florida and Puerto Rico.
In just two weeks, June 8 – 22, the Be the Match Marrowthon aims to bring 46,000 new people to the registry. Anyone is welcome to the event and during the campaign, the costs for joining the registry have been waived until the goal is met. Joining is as easy as filling out some health information and swabbing the inside of your cheek with a mouth swab.
Join the Be The Match Registry:
Though millions have joined the registry, there are still not enough donors to meet the needs of all patients. We need your help! Joining the registry is easy – take the first step at BeTheMatch.org. When asked to provide a “Promo Code”, please enter ICLABTM09. You can also join at dozens of donor drives listed at www.icla.org.
Fund hope for the future:
To kick off the campaign, the Jeff Gordon Foundation is generously donating $300,000 to help grow the registry. Adding a new member to the registry costs approximately $100; please join Jeff in contributing to The Icla da Silva Foundation to help save lives. Give online at www.icla.org.
