FIU to stage bone-marrow drive
22 Oct 2008

A marrow drive will be held Wednesday at Florida International University for Cristina Fernandez, 25, who has been diagnosed with leukemia and needs a bone-marrow donation. The drive, which involves testing potential donors' genetic compatibility with Fernandez by taking a swab from inside the cheek, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the atrium of Rafael Diaz-Balart Hall at the University Park campus, 11200 SW Eighth St.
Fernandez has postponed her plans to marry her fiancé while she undergoes treatment.
