Join the Registry

Registry Guidelines

To be a member of the Registry, all you need is to:

• be between the ages of 18 and 60
• be willing to donate to any patient in need
• meet the health guidelines

Steps to Join

These steps may be completed online or in person at a donor recruitment drive.

1. Complete a registration form with contact information, health history questions, and a signed agreement to join the Registry.
2. Give a swab of cheek cells so your tissue type can be tested.
3. Consider making a financial contribution to help cover the $100 cost of adding 1 donor to the Registry. Donate now!

That's it! Your tissue type is then added to the Registry.

There are 3 ways you can join the registry:

1. In Person at one of our upcoming marrow drives
2. By Mail
3. Online

Doctors search the Registry when they need to find a donor who can make a transplant possible for their patient.

Every day over 6,000 men, women and children desperately search the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Registry for a matching bone marrow donor. You could be the one to save a life. Donors with diverse racial or ethnic backgrounds are especially needed.

The best way to join in person is visiting one of The Icla da Silva foundation's Upcoming Donors Drive.

Join Online

Joining the registry online is the easiest way to increase patient's chance for life.

Follow the 5 steps:

1. You will be directed to the Join Now page of the Be The Match Registry once you click on the link below.
2. Review donor eligibility requirements and use the following promo code:  ICLA
3. Complete the online registration form and consider making a donation to help defray the $100 cost of adding each donor to the Registry.
4. Receive by mail a simple, do-it-yourself tissue typing kit. The kit includes everything you need to collect a sample of your cheek cells using cotton swabs.
5. Return the kit for tissue typing. You will then be added to the Registry.
